So, your bestie is getting hitched and you want to plan the most beautiful bridal shower .. ever! Of course you do! So exciting!
Right.. Guests, catering, invitations, giveaways .. eek where do you start?! While all these details are important, our top tip is that you start by selecting the theme, everything else will fall into place once you have that sorted. There are so many beautiful themes out there, but we’ve selected some of our favs as a starting inspiration for you:
1. Shabby Chic Vibes
For the girl that loves all things floral and dainty, the shabby chic vintage vibe is a great option. Think floral printed porcelain plates, fresh pastel tones, burlap table runners, flowers, flowers, and more flowers, and of course a selection of canapes and tea party foods. Add a station for making flower crowns or bracelets, your local florist can help here, and it makes the photos so much cuter! Weather permitting, an outdoor space is a lovely place to set up for a shabby chic shower, twinkle tea lights add that perfect finishing touch.
2. Spa Session
With all the stress of wedding planning, it’s a lovely idea to plan a shower around relaxation! Time away from cake selections, guest lists, and decorating drama.. bliss! Whether you chose to pamper your guests at a day spa or have an at home service booked, be sure to provide guests with a short list of treatments to select from beforehand. Pre-planning is key to this theme, the therapists will be able to streamline treatments according to their duration so there’s less waiting around and more pampering. Some fantastic giveaway options for this theme are aromatherapy oils, candles, or bath salts and scrubs, all of which can be packaged beautifully either in a favour box or simply tied with a personalized ribbon.
3. The Cook-Up
Is your bride-to-be a foodie, or on the flip-side is she looking for a little help in the kitchen? This unique and interactive shower theme offers both! For this shower, pack up and take your guests off on a culinary experience. Select a cooking class (there are quite a few restaurants and hotels that offer this) and get ready for a cook-up. You could also ask guests to send in their favourite recipes beforehand and compile them into a bound recipe book for the bride to be, be sure to credit the guest for each recipe. You can end the shower with a beautifully laid spread of yummies, including the items that you’ve collectively made. There are so many options for giveaways in this theme, it can be as simple as a personalized apron, a set of cool cookie cutters, a funky kitchen utensil (who doesn’t want a pink waffle maker?!), or a beautifully boxed selection of gourmet goodies.
4. The Mix Up
For brides that want to kick tradition to the curb, a couple’s shower is a fun way of including the Groom to be in the fun. Strictly speaking, you still need a theme for a couples shower, but we’ve found that the venue selection will probably drive this. Whether you arrange for a home-based BBQ, book out their favourite lounge for an evening affair, or decide to brunch it up be sure to include both feminine and masculine colour palettes in your planning. Make time for a select few games, but for the most part this theme runs itself as people are more likely to just mingle, enjoy good music and good food.
We hope we’ve helped inspire you! We’d love to hear your thoughts, leave us a little note on a shower theme that you like!
